After 20 Years, Jude Law Is Still Channeling Mr Ripley Style
On the tranquil waters of Mongibello, the talented Tom Ripley coughed up his obsession with Dickie Greenleaf. It didn't end well, either—an oar to the side of the head so rarely does.
But wherever Greenleaf's body washed up, he lives on in Jude Law—the man who portrayed cinema's most stylish trust fund brat in the 1999 classic The Talented Mr Ripley.
At a London screening of Captain Marvel, Law raised Greenleaf from the grave in one very classic, very oh-your-father-owns-the-Chrysler-Building-well-mine-owns-the-Empire-State outfit. It was Greenleaf in his Princeton years: smart, crisp, and devastatingly nonchalant.
The varsity jacket hints at a football career eschewed for a job in bonds, while white trousers nod to another summer mainlining Aperol and sleeping with locals. It's peak Greenleaf, is what we're saying and incredibly stylish as a result.
Better yet, it's easy to emulate. Rather than hacking the identity of a rich kid lothario, simply opt for block colors in crisp fabrics of quality cotton and wool. If it works for Law at 46, it'll work for any age.
