Kanye West Wore a Dickies Jacket That Costs About P3,000 to the Met Gala

Kanye is always going to Kanye. So it should come as no surprise that despite the "camp" theme of the 2019 Met Gala, the guy showed up wearing an understated, workwear-inspired look that was completely out of line with the vibe of the evening's festivities. What is a little surprising, though, is just how affordable one of the things he's wearing is.

West wore Yeezy desert boots, black chinos, and a white tee, then topped his look off with a Dickies jacket—specifically the insulated Eisenhower jacket—that costs just $40 (around P3K). Plus, it's available on Amazon. You can't say that about many of the pieces that walked the red carpet last night.

Another way the outerwear pick broke from the pack? The Eisenhower jacket is supremely wearable: It's simple, streamlined, and because it's by Dickies, built to take a beating. Try putting a beaded latex dress (like the one from Thierry Mugler that Kim Kardashian West wore) through the same paces as the Eisenhower, and I can guarantee you'll get a very different end result.

Kanye may not have leaned into the theme and had fun with the idea of exaggerated exaggeration like so many of the guys who showed up last night. And because the guy's a major star, that might feel a little disappointing. But when it comes to bringing something real guys can actually wear to the Met Gala, West delivered.  We've got somewhere around 364 days until the next Met Gala comes around and brings a new theme into the public eye. Until then, we can all wear our comfortable, durable, affordable jackets and enjoy being stylish out here in the real world.
