Lacoste Just Became a Partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation

Lacoste has just become a partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. As a charity, the foundation works to inspire "a generation to re-think, re-design, and build a positive future circular economy."

Now, Lacoste isn't wandering into unfamiliar territory. The French company has been a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Make Fashion Circular initiative. So, becoming a partner just strengthens Lacoste's commitment to using resources more efficiently.

Lacoste has taken the steps to foster circularity and produce sustainably, and is now setting new goals to minimize the environmental impact of its operations, extend the life of its products, and manage the end of life of textile materials. Pretty great stuff.

The objectives may be ambitious but, of course, Lacoste has it all mapped out with a solid plan. By 2025, the company hopes to reduce the environmental impact of its products by 15 percent, double the lifespan for its iconic polos, and ensure a second life for waste and goods.

"At Lacoste, we have always produced clothing and accessories designed to last and we are committed to the environmental excellence of our products on a daily basis," says Catherine Spindler, Lacoste chief brand officer.

She continues, "This renewed and strengthened commitment to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular initiative is, therefore, a natural fit for Lacoste. This partnership confirms our desire to reinvent the textile industry to make it ever more responsible and sustainable."
