Louis Vuitton Is Going Seasonless For Fashion Week
Early this month, Louis Vuitton announced its schedule for fashion week and its leap into seasonless territory. Instead of showing in Paris, for the first time, Virgil Abloh is taking the spring 2021 collection to China and Japan.
The new decision is a first for Louis Vuitton, and we'll see more of it as the fashion house is expected to travel around the world for physical shows from here on out. Shanghai will be the first to see Abloh's latest offerings on August 6, while Japan will follow in the days after.
This year, in lieu of a traditional show, Louis Vuitton and Abloh have also introduced a new concept by revealing his latest collection throughout the rest of the year.
The artistic director told WWD, “This next show is probably the biggest leap that I’ve made in terms of proposing a new system, how it lives and operates. It’s probably the most fully packaged from the clothes itself and the craftsmanship, to the things you’ll see with the films and how it activates.”
The fashion industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Several companies including J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, and more have filed for bankruptcy, while the future of fashion has gone digital and virtual.
