The Essential Wedding Suit Guide

We've got you covered for every kind of party.

It's here. You're getting older, and your friends are, apparently, getting happier. They've got the incoming marriage to prove it. Cue stag do. Cue much fun. Cue the less fun task of punishing your bank account and deciding upon the best men's wedding suit.

This is also a nigh on impossible task. Thanks to Instagram and the pressure to pull off an 'original' ceremony, no one wedding is the same. So, in order to maintain your standing as a very stylish man, you may have to invest. More than once.

After all, the happiness of others is expensive. But, assuming you opt for the below, it needn't be poorly dressed. Here are the best men's wedding suits for every sort of wedding.

The Classic Wedding

The invites were written in a 'rustic' cursive font, probably with some illustration of the church. The vows will still contain the problematic promise to 'love and obey,' and the whole thing is a fairly conservative, reasonably nice, deeply beige affair. That means you don't rock the boat.

So for plain sailing, enlist in the navy. As one of the most classic options in the wardrobe, a tailored suit with the right accessories can double-up for work, job interviews, and whatever semblance of formality you throw at it. May as well get the most out of it.

Oh, what's that? You've to fork out for a flight to Capri during the school holiday season? No problem! At least there's the sun, and the prospect of a free bar for all the trouble of traversing Italy by way of Southend Airport.

The sheer amount of sun, though, makes linen the best choice: light, breathable, and wholly conducive to tailoring, go big on the Jacquemus Provence vibes with something neutral, or navy to blend in amongst the other, sweatier guests.

The Fun Wedding

The rules are out the window at a fun wedding. Normal traditions are ditched. You don't know what to expect. That's a good thing, especially as each summer season will bring at least 736 weddings.

It doesn't mean you rest on your laurels, though. A suit, or some tailoring at the very least, should be part and parcel. But, to show how relaxed and chill and on-board with it all you really are, inject an element of color, lose the tie, or go all-in on the print.

The Black Tie Wedding

Common with our transatlantic compatriots, black tie is increasingly popular on these fair isles, too. And, as one of the trickiest dress codes in the book, it's imperative to do it correctly.

So, embrace the penguin suit, but know there are other ways to make your own mark. Navy tuxedos are acceptable. As is a simple air tie below a tux jacket. Just ensure you don't deviate too far from the norm, and you'll keep the wedding party smiling.
