The Wolves, Nike, and the Prince Estate are bringing Purple Rain (back) to life.

Prince was very good and will remain very good. His influence on culture goes beyond music, too—he was a major influence on his home state of Minnesota. And Minnesota is honoring him with an official NBA uniform.

The Purple Reign uniform, as its called, is the Minnesota Timberwolves' City Edition uniform, which they'll wear for eight games during the season. Prince is written all over these purple uniforms—in the color (of course), the font, a paisley leaf (for Paisley park), and a shoulder pattern inspired by his Purple Rain jacket.

The uniforms were part of a three-team venture between the Timberwolves, Nike, and the Prince Estate. The team wore them first last November 16 when it played the Portland Trail Blazers. The Prince-inspired merch is now available online.
