Cop or Drop: New Balance Releases Vintage-Looking Sneakers
Sneakers have a long, storied history—the first plimsolls can be traced back all the way to the late 18th century. These days, the rubber-soled sports shoes we commonly refer to as sneakers have grown into a global phenomenon, with silhouettes like the Nike Air Force 1, the Adidas Stan Smith, and the Converse Chuck Taylor (to name a few) being worn all around the world. Though many of these pairs date as far back as the 1970s, they continue to be relevant to this very day, not only because of their popularity and timeless designs, but because brands continue to innovate and revamp their OG pieces.
Another sportswear classic known to full-fledged sneakerheads is New Balance's 99X series, which has become one of the brand's most recognizable silhouettes—and one that continues to be updated. In fact, they just released the sneaker's latest iteration, the 997 Sport, in a variety of vintage-inspired colorways and we can't take our eyes off of them!
The freshly updated silhouette has the same bulky style and collar strap design as its predecessor, but made sleeker and more supportive thanks to a new construction designed to give you a snug fit. The shoe's brand-new colorways, characteristic of New Balance's usual experimentation with color, gives us late-'80s-slash-early-'90s hip-hop vibes—think Biggie or Will Smith in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The 997 Sport sneakers are available at New Balance branches in Trinoma, Glorietta 4, Alabang Town Center, Bonifacio High Street, and Robinsons Ermita for P6,295.
