After a breakout year, Toqa is still going strong. A project by Isabel Sicat and Aiala Valdovino, Toqa, as it says, "focuses on creating sustainable high fashion." The brand takes inspiration from the tropics but has an athletic touch. Really, it is a mash-up of striking prints, exaggerated details, and textures that somehow manage to work together.

There's something inherently Filipino about Ched Studio's clothinga tropical-style detail here, some embroidery there. It's that touch, along with Christian Edward Dalogaog's artisanal approach, that's probably catapulted the brand to international recognition. The latest collection, "Manila: Reflection of the Past in Contemporary Fashion," draws inspiration from the sentimentality of past and early memories.
