Rami Malek Managed To Make All-Black Interesting. Here's How

One trick to raise the Mercury on monochrome.

Rami Malek's getting very good at this fashion thing, isn't he? One moment, dressing like the ultimate 'who's that guy over there?' in a stock party scene; the next, making one of the safest (if not slightly forgettable) moves interesting again.

We mean the all-black outfit. As the perennial crutch when feeling world weary/having listened to Radiohead one too many times, it's a move that requires little thought. But Malek has given it thought. A lot, apparently.

At the Valentino couture show in Paris, the Bohemian Rhapsody star deployed one easy upgrade: a printed shirt. And it needn't be the sort-of-fun-but-also-quite-annoying-guy-at-the-BBQ sort of print. Instead, Malek opted for a quieter, monochrome take on Valentino logomania that didn't upset the outfit-at-large. This piece melded with all-black, but still managed to pop.

It's one of those minor pivots that makes for a Very Stylish Man. And there's a reason all-black remains popular: It's wearable and versatile, though perhaps a little too easy to follow the mold of a Central Saint Martin's grad who possesses unreasonable anger towards his parents.

Which means you get your own happier, Malek-approved version below.
