The Jeans That Made Shia LaBeouf's Week

One pair of solid denims; two infallible weekend looks.

Shopping for denim, and delving into the Pandora's box of size, wash, and fit, is no fun. It is, however, essential. A failure to do so will only paint you as a man of the laziest order, without integrity, and, sadly, without a solid pair of jeans, either. Shia LaBeouf is no such man.

Just this week, the 33-year-old found his Holy Grail of denim in New York: a pair that carried him throughout multiple looks, melding with each and proving that one sound purchase can build an entire weekend wardrobe. And we mean jeans that actually work, as opposed to the go-to bootcuts of your newly-divorced, mildly bigoted uncle.

For LeBeouf, that meant a cropped, slate gray jean to sit pretty above white socks and the battered old faithfuls that are Nike's Cortez model. Go classic on the sneaker, and you too can enjoy a pair that have been dragged through every single bar with a 2 a.m. last orders time. Better yet, such foolproof combinationspastel T-shirt, or block color polo shirtswork for every guy.

The after-effects were plentiful, too. He shook hands with strangers. He helped someone pick up a recently dropped pile of important-looking leaflets. He was, in short, the sort of understatedly cool cosmopolitan good dresser that has a spare bedroom in Dalston and a dog people like to photograph on public transport.

You can thank one pair of expertly chosen, utterly versatile pair of jeans.
