This Carbon-Titanium Diving Watch Lets You Live Your Aquaman Dreams

Tag Heuer uses carbon and titanium to reflect the depths of the ocean.

We're taking another look at the Aquaracer Carbon, the newest diving watch by Tag Heuer.

The more accessible brother of the Monaco Bamford, a fantastic collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker and luxury customizer Bamford Watch Department, continues the carbon theme of the premium Bamford with its “carbon-effect” look.

That just means the Aquaracers look and feel like carbon, but really the three iterations of the watch are made with a combination of two interesting materials in horology: carbon fiber and titanium.

The resulting appearance, which is achieved by “a random injection of carbon fibers into a resin pressed at high temperatures,” is a mottled marble look seen on the dial and the bezel. The random part of the technique also makes the black-and-gray pattern, which is like a deconstructed camouflage or a very cool paint job, one of a kind for each watch.

The mostly black 41mm watch features pops of color on the seconds hand, logos, and hour markers and comes with a black nylon strap. Blue, yellow, and rose gold are the accents, but here in Manila only the rose gold is available—a sober choice for local Tag Heuer fans.

The Aquaracer has a look that, according to Tag Heuer, “evokes the depths of the oceans,” calling back to its ultimate purpose as a reliable tool for underwater exploration. The watch is waterproof up to 300 meters and, thanks to Super LumiNova, remains legible below the waves. The fabric watch strap also comes with a diving extension, making it perfect for your dreams of the deep.

But if you prefer dryer adventures, the blacked-out watch is very much suitable for the city, too.
