The Comme des Garçons Homme Plus x Nike Air Max 180 is a Great Reason to Wear Pink

Don't be afraid.

Forget for a moment its association with ribbons, cupcakes, and debutantes (or celebutantes—Paris Hilton in the early aughts come to mind), because pink, a ravishing color that is now strongly associated with the fairer sex, was really meant for men.

During the 18th century, because of its relationship with red, a color that symbolizes strength, pink was perceived as masculine and freely worn by men. On the other hand, in the early 19th century, because of its delicate appearance, blue was deemed more appropriate for women

Time and tastes—and especially fashion—change, and what was once right-side up is now upside down. Pink for women. Blue for men. Blame it on marketers, who for one reason or another, decided and then heavily promoted particular colors for each gender.

But, really, color is neither male nor female and, in the super woke reality we live in now, should not be restricted to just one sex. You will not become less of a man if you put on a rose-colored shirt, a blush tie, or these very fresh, hot pink sneakers (which drops today!).

The shoes are unapologetically bright—like burn-your-retinas bright—with laser pink nylon uppers and three overlay panel colorways in white, black, or, if you need more pink, pink. The obtrusive heel counter and visible Air sole units make these very much like the sneaker we all know and love. They're just, you know, very pink.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

Wear with a muted ensemble or, if you feel daring, take cues from the Comme runway and pile on the acid-trip brights. Enjoy!
