Your daily dose of good news involves serious shopping: The new Louis Vuitton boutique in Solaire Resorts and Casino carries men’s ready-to-wear pieces. The store, which is the second location of the French luxury brand in the Philippines, dedicates around half of its space for men, a setup that is rare in the luxury retail landscape of Manila, where most upscale stores almost always carry more pieces for women (and sometimes none at all for men).

The formal section of the store can be turned into a private salon.

The shop, the largest among the boutiques in Solaire’s shopping wing, is comparative in size to Louis Vuitton’s location in Greenbelt, but unlike the three-floor store in Makati, this one is spread out on a single level. No need to go up and down a flight of stairs to get what you want. To reach the Men’s Universe, turn left where leather goods and accessories such as scarves, watches, and bags are found. Marc Newson’s modern interpretation of the wheelie and the clever Spin Time watches are here. A hot stamping is also ready to transpose your initials onto small leather goods.

Further inside the store are two rooms dedicated to casual and formal clothing. For spring 2017, artistic director Kim Jones creates another tribute to travel, combining three locations that are meaningful to him: the savannas of Africa, the punk streets of London, and the polish of Paris. The first two are places where Jones grew up while Paris is, of course, where he works now.

This inventive combination is reflected in clothes that invoke the gentleman traveler. Subversive details and spikes of color, as in a florid and fuzzy sweater, recall punk, while the light and sandy tones of the clothes as well as the zoo of animals employed as prints reflect African influences. These monster-like giraffes, elephants, lions, and rhinos, which adorn silky shirts and accessories, have been created by The Chapman Brothers, the same duo that made that nightmare garden print for Jones’ 2013 collection.

Lots of bomber jackets here (this creamy creation is almost sold out). Notice, too, the dressing room with your very own robe in the background.

The clothes are easy enough to wear in Manila with bomber jackets, shirts, jeans, and even luxury loungewear making up most of the mix. Would you like your own Vuitton swim shorts? They come with waterproof leather envelopes. How about velvet suits and loafers in exotic skins? These are found in the store’s formal section, which can be converted into a private salon. Sliding doors can conceal the space for an intimate shopping session. Call ahead for an appointment.

At this new shopping hotspot, there’s a lot more for men to explore, and maybe for the first time, it will be your wife who’ll need to wait while you check out all the goods.

Open from 12 noon to 11 p.m., Louis Vuitton is at The Shoppes, Solaire Resort & Casino, Aseana Avenue, Paranaque City.
