The Porsche Design Travel Tourer is the grown man’s boost sneaker

Finally, something good from the age-old adidas-Porsche collaboration.

If you can appreciate the sleek design and impeccable comfort levels of the adidas Ultra Boost, but are fed up with seeing every teenager and his younger brother wearing them out to the mall, this one’s for you. In what is perhaps the best thing to ever come from their collaboration with luxury label Porsche Design, adidas just released the Travel Tourer, a lightweight sneaker designed for both the urban commuter and the jetsetter.

It’s a fairly simple, straightforward design: a one-piece fine mesh upper, a luxe leather tongue, seamless lace holes, and of course, the full-BOOST™ sole. The Travel Tourer is glorious in its minimalism—none of the stripes and extra parts that we’ve come to expect from adidas’s mainline runners. But the real kicker is the Porsche Design emblem on its heel. It’s that little detail that sets this sneaker apart and above from everything else.

Porsche Design and adidas have been working together since about 2007, when the former launched their athletic sublabel, Porsche Design Sport, in collaboration with the three stripes. They’ve released footwear and luxe athletic gear every season since, but until the Travel Tourer came along, their sneakers were always a little too garish for most people’s tastes.

Prior to the adidas partnership, Porsche Design was already a studio and luxury label that made everything from clothes and accessories to yachts and even buildings. In fact, the brand descends directly from the studio of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who put up his own design firm before returning to the family business to design the Porsche 911. If that lineage isn’t enough to sell you on these sneakers, we’re not sure what is.

No word on when the Travel Tourer will drop locally, but online retailers like END have them in “Onix” and “Trace Cargo” colorways.
