The Rock Wears the Perfect Dressed-Up Outfit for Summer

Don't let the murderous heat of summer defeat you.

With the index crossing 40 degrees Celsius, the comfort of wearing the thinnest T-shirt, balloon-like cargo shorts, and flip-flops that showcase your hairy Hobbit feet thwarts any desire to make an effort.

But Dwayne Johnson, more popularly known as The Rock, shows all men that the season of the sun is still a time to dress up. At the recently concluded CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the actor took to the stage in a collection of summer hits: tropical print, rugged watch, the ultimate short crop, and, yeah, muscles.

It's an outfit that perfectly suited the occasion, which, for those living under, uh, a rock, is one of the biggest showcases for movies. In other words, CinemaCon was an official work thing for the actor, who was there to promote the latest The Fast and The Furious spinoff, Hobbes & Shaw.

He didn't disappoint. The shirt is trim, but not tight, and its arms end at the best spot to highlight his guns. Observe, as well, the details of the '50s-style polo shirt: a hidden button placket, that dark trim, and a banded bottom (sort of like a waistband), all of which take the style to the next level.

The print, a symphony of leaves in cool, easy colors, is an alternative—and also elegant—way to tackle the done-to-death floral trend. And, when paired with a trouser (not chinos nor board shorts), the entire rig becomes “evening party at the resort” and not “all-night rager at random friend's backyard.”

We have to talk about the watch. The pleasures of summer call for casual choices, and the Rock's IWC Big Pilot’s Watch, a Perpetual Calendar Spitfire to be exact, hits the right spot, with its brown band and bronze case, both of which will gain patina over time, and a refreshing green dial.

But don't let the laidback feeling fool you. Note the perpetual calendar, which automatically adjusts to the variances of days in the months and leap years, and the double moon display, which shows the moon's position in the northern and southern hemispheres.

Now, what about the action-star physique? In the season of skin, that's always a plus, but if you don't have it (yet), you can start with the shirt and watch.
