Tom Hiddleston wears a suit better than anyone
Given the hot streak that Gucci is on right now, it could probably put Larry the Cable Guy in its latest tailoring ad and it would come off as a stroke of brilliance. Fortunately, though, the venerable Italian brand has chosen a far safer route by tapping former Swift paramour, possible future Bond, and current guy who looks incredible in suits Tom Hiddleston as the face of its new Cruise 2017 Men's Tailoring campaign.
Set in the mansion of late artist Tony Duquette and shot by photographer Glen Luchford, the campaign perfectly juxtaposes the sartorial elegance of a well-tailored suit with Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele's Wes-Anderson-movie-meets-antique-store spin on modern fashion.
The collection features foulard prints and windowpane peak lapels, as well as evening wear with pink piping and a double-breasted three-piece suit that wouldn't look at all out of place in Baz Luhrnmann's version of The Great Gatsby.
All of it gets topped off with accents like serpentine appliqués and fur-lined slippers before it's presented through Michele's whimsical version of reality (via Luchford's lens), one that drips with art and highly ornate anachronistic opulence. Oh, and some Afghan hounds.
Just a beautiful man in beautiful clothes in a beautiful world that we all wish we could live in.
