Converse Will Be Dropping Your Next Favorite Sneaker
Of all cult sneaker followings, Converse's far-reaching relevancy has crafted one of the most interesting sneaker histories. And chief among this is the brand's One Star, a shoe that was brought under the wing of the counterculture rebellion in the 90s. From Guy Mariano to Kurt Cobain, the One Star has been the preferred shoe of many illustriously creative people. And most recent on that list: Tyler, the Creator. The artist and Converse just announced their sneaker collaboration. It's pretty great.
The collection, which will drop August 3, is a project between Converse and Tyler's own brand, Golf le Fleur. The special One Star design has details reminiscent of le Fleur and Tyler's latest album, Flower Boy. Around the star, there's le Fleur's signature flower in contrast white stitching, and a bee embroidered on the back. Along the rubber, a Tyler-esque message: "Don't let 'em kill your flowers, water your garden and stunt."
They'll come in four colors—fuchsia, light blue, lilac, and yellow—go for $100 a pop. The pastel shoes are complemented by similarly themed graphic tees ($35) and hoodies ($90). And if Tyler, the Creator's preview drop from last week offers any foresight, it's that these will sell out fast. Get 'em while you can.
