Uniqlo's Wildly Popular +J Collab With Jil Sander Is Back for Spring

Don't expect any of this stuff to stick around for long

Okay, folks! We've got a lot of stuff to cover and not that much time to do it, so I'm gonna move quick. For those of you who have been on this ride before: Welcome back! You'll be pleased to know that not all that much has changed. For those of you who are new to the experience of shopping Uniqlo's wildly popular +J collaboration with Jil Sander: Please take a moment to acquaint yourselves with the pamphlet in your seat-back pocket.

No pamphlet? No problem. Here are the basics: Way back in the aughts, Japanese mega-retailer Uniqlo teamed up with German designer Jil Sander on a collection called +J. It was one of the earliest—and biggest, and most successful—examples of the sort of high/low collaborations that have become par for the course at this point. But this was the past, and aside from everything being black-and-white and everyone talking in inexplicable transatlantic accents, that meant that people were unfamiliar with the form. This led to its fair share of over-excitement, translating IRL into people snatching up every collaborative cardigan they could with each successive drop, and not being shy about throwing an elbow or two in the process.

Then, tragedy struck. Uniqlo and Sander decided to put the brakes on the project, letting it rest for a decade. We listed. We longed. We looked back fondly. And in the fall of 2020, we stopped waiting. The collab was back, and though in-person shopping ain't what it used to be, the folks snapping up the new offerings still created a bit of a frenzy. Just about everything sold out—and fast. Which brings us to today.

If you missed out last time around, worry not. The +J collection is back for spring 2021, and it's full of the lightweight outerwear, sleek-but-not-skinny tailoring, and easy-to-wear essentials that make it such a fan favorite. We've rounded up 13 of our favorite items below, but really, you can't go wrong with anything in the lineup. Unless, that is, you hesitate. Considering how quickly last season's items flew off the (digital) shelves, you probably don't want to wait around and watch your top picks disappear. Hurry up, please. It's time.
