We Slept on This Rare Adidas Collab, And Now It’s on Sale

It feels like we’ve reached a point, in sneaker culture, where nothing is coveted because everything is coveted. It’s a little ironic: Supposedly rare collections and limited editions come along so often that they become easy to miss, and so aren’t very rare or limited at all. And when that happens, a lot of true gems slip through the cracks while everyone hoards the shiniest ones.
One such gem that has evidently slipped through the cracks is this collaboration between Adidas and Russian designer streetwear label Gosha Rubchinskiy. Over the past year, Gosha has grown from the fringes to become one of the hottest new brands in global fashion, championing a distinct aesthetic that borrows from post-Soviet Eastern Europe. The brand teamed up with Adidas last year, and together released a line of clothes and two colorways of the Adidas Copa Trainer—a classic football sneaker that fit right into the whole Slavic look.
The colorways themselves are simple: black with a gum sole, and white with a gum sole. Both have premium leather uppers with suede panels, and the word “futbol” in Cyrillic debossed on the tongue.

Because of the Gosha’s growing cult status, it’s hard to imagine why this collaboration would end up among the discounted items in Hoodwink, SM Aura and in Univers, One Rockwell, where it now retails for P8,888.50. That’s thirty percent off from its original retail price of P12,698, and a steal for something that treads on the edges of the fashion world. Elsewhere, we imagine that these sneakers would have sold out quick. But here, you actually have a shot at them.
