What Every Guy Needs to Consider When Looking For the Perfect Suit

Investing in a well-fitted suit will see you through the numerous festivities and social occasions all-year round. Needless to say, it's vital to consider the fit, color, and fabric carefully when doing so. Here are some points to consider when searching for the perfect suit:

Focus on fit
When buying off the rack, it's important to check how each element of the suit fits. The jacket shoulders should fall in line with your own shoulders, and the sleeves should finish just above your wrist bone so that a quarter-inch of your shirt cuff is visible.

The jacket and trousers must not be too long nor too short-with the trouser cuff resting on top of a shoe. Ensure the fabric is not too tight or loose, but flatters the body, with the waistband sitting at your hips. The button stance on the suit jacket must sit in the center of your torso, and is proportionate to your height.

Consider color.
Opt for a versatile color-such as navy blue or grey-in a classic fit; they can be worn to many occasions and will form an essential component of your wardrobe. If you're feeling more adventurous, look to rich hues such as burgundy or green. You can also opt for something really stands out in bold prints and patterns (florals are having a real moment in menswear).

Be particular with fabric.
Wool blends aren't ideal for our warm climate. Instead, look for a cotton blend or pure cotton suit. Some casual suits come in lighter fabrics such as seersucker and linen, which will have you sitting comfortably despite the heat. The key is to choose fabrics that are lightweight and breathable but durable enough to last you years.

Accessorize.
There are numerous ways to liven up your suit without going over-the-top or spending a fortune. For starters, invest in accessories that will bring color, pattern, and playfulness to your look. Try exploring different styles of ties, socks, and pocket squares and see where it takes you.

Go bold.
Once you have achieved a sense of what looks good on you, you can start experimenting with other cuts, colors, and interesting features: wider legs, higher crops, shrunken fits, prints and patterns. That's when the real fun begins!
