When he takes off the cape and hangs the hammer, Chris Hemsworth is just like any man... except that he is infinitely more good looking and arguably has the best job in the world as a Hollywood movie star, who occasionally wears a cape and wields a magic hammer.
But really, the 34-year-old has real concerns beyond playing a god on the silver screen. In his everyday life, Hemsworth believes in the importance of integrity or following through. “It’s one thing to say you’re going to do something, but to back it up and do it is a whole other thing. It’s an attitude that my parents bestowed upon me and an approach I hope to instill in my kids as well,” he says.
Just like most men, his most important role is that of father to India Rose, Tristan, and Sasha and husband to Elsa. To them, he wishes to impart a whole lot of love as well as his values.
“Integrity, honesty, and compassion are the values I was raised by, which means they are very important to me,” he says. “The older I get, the more I realize the importance of having a sense of compassion. Having that attitude, being collaborative, and staying open minded with a willingness to learn is what makes people want to work with you.”
Here, a peek at the private life of Hemsworth, the global fragrance ambassador of Boss Bottled.
His 'super power' is his family
I’d say my family is my greatest achievement. I have three kids and not a day goes by where I don’t look at them and feel a sense of pride. They are my motivation for everything I do now in life.
Naturally, they are also his weakness
Since becoming a parent, I’m afraid of anything that threatens my children’s well-being and constantly worry about them. But that worry also drives me to achieve things for them and make sure my family is happy and secure.
The best days are spent with wife and kids... under the sun
My perfect day would start with waking early, before the kids, and going surfing first thing. This would be followed by breakfast with the family and then an outdoor activity with the kids, such as horse riding. Or a day surfing at the beach and then dinner with my wife, followed by a movie with the family at home.
With a lot of time outdoors, the wife cares about his skin
My wife always reminds me to take care of my skin and use plenty of moisturizer, as I spend a lot of time surfing in the sun.
This is the one grooming product he can't live without
It’s all about prevention, so a good sunscreen. I spend a lot of time surfing and the salt water and sun can be quite tough on my skin. ...I think it’s all about protecting your skin, so wearing a good sunscreen is helpful.
A handsome man tip to look better in an instant
Occasionally, I’ll put my face in a bowl of ice water. It’s an old trick Paul Newman used.
Beyond the joys of the sun, this is what he wants his kids to learn
To be compassionate, kind, humble, and smile and enjoy life. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
