6 Barbershops Offering Home Services Within and Near the NCR+ Bubble

GCQ, ECQ, MECQ? Local businesses, including neighborhood barbershops, have been struggling with the fickle open-close situation of the quarantine. Meanwhile, your bed of hair is starting to resemble the potted plant you adopted during your plantito phase: wild and in need of a good trim.
Now would be a good time to reconnect with your local barber, whose livelihood has undoubtedly been impacted during this period. Left with no other choice but to close their doors, barbers have been making ends meet through home services and private appointments—all while getting tested and observing proper safety protocols.
We know you have been itching for a proper haircut. Provided that your household situation is not sensitive and can accommodate appointments—no seniors or anyone with co-morbidities plus ample space to keep everyone else at a distance—book some of our favorite barbers below for a house call. Your hair and barber will thank you.
Slick Barbers Co.

Like most barbershops, this indie favorite in Makati closed its doors in the wake of the pandemic. Still, the band of barbers, known for mixing classic cuts with street flair, has kept itself busy by catering to private appointments for regular patrons. According to co-founder Christian Bendaña, the group accepts haircuts on a by-appointment basis. Aside from strict procedures such as sanitizing with alcohol and wearing face masks and face shields, the Slick Barbers Co. team also limits its house call clients by accommodating the equivalent of its shop’s 50-percent capacity.

Grooming fans mourned when Heavyhands Barbershop said goodbye to its Mendiola spot, but that doesn’t mean its founders have put away their shears and razors for good. After a quick stint at specialty menswear store Signet, co-founder Ez Abinal set up shop in his home base in Las Piñas for friends and long-time clients who clamored for slick, rockabilly hairstyles. Abinal prioritizes home service for safety reasons, but for guys who prefer getting their haircuts outside their homes, he has a barber chair in his space strictly for one client at a time.
Fee: P600 to P800, additional transport charge for farther locations
Areas serviced: Las Piñas, Parañaque, Alabang, general Metro Manila area

Like his partner Abinal, Heavyhands co-founder Mak Azores retreated to his residence in Cainta, Rizal. Here, he set up Crowspoint Barbershop, a private shop that caters to grooming enthusiasts east of the metro. The street barber pioneer shares that, while closing Heavyhands was a difficult decision, his new practice at Crowspoint allows him to continue his passion and provide house calls on the side. As a one-man team, Azores only accommodates one client for each time slot and also advises clients not to bring companions to their appointments. For home services, he limits service to seven heads in one household and makes sure everyone wears a mask at all times.
