Grooming

Real Friends Manscape Together. (Apparently.)

A new study shows that a not-zero percentage of dudes enlist their buddies' help in grooming "down there."

Manscaping is one of those awkward topics that no one wants to talk about. That's understandable, considering that the conversation opener could easily include the word "pubic"—or, honestly, "manscape"—and no one wants that. But does the lack of discussion mean it's just a weird topic or that no one is doing it? According to LawnStarter, it’s definitely not the latter.

The study comes from a lawn-service group (Do you get it? Do you get the pun?), which asked over 1,000 men about their grooming habits. Seventy-eight percent admitted to trimming the area around their penis, at minimum. While that stat may not sound like the most revolutionary, the study also provides insights into other facets of the grooming process. Of all the respondents, an overwhelming majority said that the act of "down-there" maintenance is a solo venture, but a very-niche five percent of respondents said that a friend assists them with the process. That better be a damn good friend with a steady hand.

That steady hand is important, too. Around 50 percent of guys said they’ve injured themselves to some extent in the trimming process, with about two percent admitting to having to go to the hospital (!) because of it. If anything, LawnStarter's study is proof that trimming and grooming your nether regions is not for the faint of heart. But the work isn't for naught. According to a past study from Mascaped.com, a whopping 93 percent of women prefer a man who does a little bit of maintenance down there.

So if you're going to tackle the great beyond, know that you're not alone. But it's also probably a good idea to know what you're doing, handle it with the right equipment, and if you're the one out of 20 men with that kind of friendship, perhaps enlist a little bit of help.
