Having the wrong haircut.

Good hair starts with a good haircut. It serves as the foundation before you go and style it. You can't force your hair to adapt to a certain hairstyle so, if you've got thick hair, don't expect your haircut to look the same as David Beckham's trademark coif or vice versa. It pays to consult with a proper hairstylist and explain what you're going for while keeping your hair texture, style, and more in mind.

Putting too much product on.

We've all been guilty of piling on hair gel in our younger years. Nowadays, less is more when it comes to hair products. Always grab a tiny amount of product and spread it evenly through your palms before applying. You can always add more as needed. Remember, stiff hair isn't actually a good look.

Dyeing it yourself.

You've decided to try a new look. Great! Just make sure you let a professional handle it because mixing hair dye does involve a cosmetology degree. Sure, box dyes exist but, unless it's an emergency, you should avoid using these harsh formulas, which really were formulated to be universal.

Forgetting about sideburns.

You may not know it, but sideburns are a big part of looking groomed. It can be a huge statement or something more cleaned up. You should make sure it looks good according to your hairstyle or risk looking like a character from a Spaghetti Western.

Holding on to thinned hair.

Male pattern baldness (MPB) or thinning hair is difficult to deal with. With a receding hairline, there comes a point where you have to just accept it. Then, embrace it with confidence. Avoid the comb over and, again, consult a professional hairstylist (with MPB experience) to trim it down or shave it all off.
