We interrupt your regularly scheduled weekend with this special report: IWC Schaffhausen has just launched a new smartphone app that lets you try on the watchmaker's 2021 novelties virtually. Using augmented reality, anyone can point their camera at their wrist to see the timepieces true to their actual sizes.

You don't only get to try on the watches virtually, but you also get many other features and exclusive content on the app. Back to IWC 2021 novelties, though... by trying on a watch you can access all the things you need to know about each model along with a link the leads you to the site to buy the model.

"For IWC, technology is never just an end in itself, but always a means to improve our customer’s experience and offer tangible added value," says Dominic Weird, chief digital officer at IWC Schaffhausen.

He continues, "While this year’s Watches and Wonders event will again be held virtually, we wanted to make sure that our partners, clients, and fans will be able to see our novelties on their wrists when we reveal them tomorrow. Recent progress in AR technology has been a game-changer, allowing us to bring our watches to people’s homes virtually."

Do you think virtual try-ons are useful?

Yeah, they're cool.

I like the store experience more.

What timepieces are on the app right now? The last thing we want to do is spoil it all. But, if you need more convincing, you can try on the Big Pilot's Watch, Pilot's Watch Chronograph, and plenty more. Happy virtual shopping.
