A Patek Philippe Watch Just Obliterated Auction Records by Selling for P1.5 Billion
Only Watch, a biennial charity auction for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, has just sold the most expensive watch in the world. The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010 sold for an astounding CHF31 Million (approximately P1.5 billion).
Patek Philippe donated the one-of-a-kind timepiece for the eighth edition of the charity auction. The Grandmaster Chime was launched in 2014, and became part of the regular collection in 2016. As the most complex Patek wristwatch, it features 20 complications including a grande and petite sonnerie, a minute repeater, instantaneous perpetual calendar with a four-digit year display, and a second time zone, to name a few.
Another feature that's pretty special is the double-face case with the guilloched hobnail pattern. And, it doesn't even end there. The Ref. 6300A-010 Grandmaster Chime has golden opaline and ebony-black dials inscribed with "The Only One" on the subsidiary alarm time dial.
But, what exactly makes it so covetable? The Only Watch 2019 creation is exceptionally unique as it is the first and only Grandmaster Chime in steel, a very rare metal for the collection and even more so for a grand complication. It's essentially a collector's dream.
