You Almost Don’t Want To Wear These All-Black Air Jordans

Earlier this week, basketball concept store Titan 22 released a new colorway of the Air Jordan 5: all-black and in premium leather.

The 5 made its debut on Michael Jordan during the 1990 NBA All-Star Game, and was his sneaker of choice until the second half of the 1990-1991 season. It was designed by Air Jordan ingénieur Tinker Hatfield, and was famously inspired by the P-51 Mustang, a World War II fighter plane. The painted sawtooth detailing on the sole and the overall shape and profile of the Air Jordan 5 are the most obvious indications of its inspiration.

This particular Air Jordan is also usually considered to be one of the louder and bulkier models among His Airness’ signatures, especially in its more famous colorways. But this latest release proves that the 5 can also exude a more upscale appeal, in the right colors and with the right materials. Jet black premium leather, in this case, makes it an absolutely luxe pair of sneakers that you almost don’t want to wear, in fear of creasing it. A pleated tongue and pleated side panels (in place of the plastic mesh on most other releases) and debossed branding inside are also unique features that give it a more elevated off-court look.

You can certainly wear these with a clean all-black outfit, but only if you can fight the temptation to keep them in a glass case and never wear them at all, hoping in vain to preserve that delicious premium leather.

The Air Jordan 5 'Premium' is available in Titan Two Parkade and the Titan Web Store. It'll set you back P18,895.
