Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Aqua Universalis Is the Cleanest-Smelling Luxury Scent Ever

It is the scent between a breezy sunny day at the Hamptons and a sparkling dinner date at Gilt. Or one which lingers between your showered skin and the silk sheets that you sleep on at the Ritz’s Windsor Suite with its vast windows, gold-leaf moldings, rich history.
It is the languidly shifting hand and starkness of Emily Blunt as the young Queen Victoria melding with the opulence of Kirsten Dunst’s brocade as Marie Antoinette.
It is the sparkling eau de parfum that leads to you to think in metaphors. Enter the world of Aqua Universalis, the scent of extravagance mixed with everything everyday; forever in between as it is perfected to suit both sexes.
Clean in every sense of the word, it is a fragrance of poetry that brings fresh-out-of-the- shower and newly washed laundry scents together without losing the refinement, luxury, and quality known to Francis Kurkdjian, the celebrated nose in the fragrance industry, named one of France’s greatest perfumers by the French Ministry of Culture. Aqua Universalis, which also comes in candles, fabric detergent, and a stronger “forte” version, is the missing link between skin, clothes, bed linens, and the air, according to the perfumer. It means “universal water,” and clearly, it delivers as a fragrance for “everything, everyone, and all days,” adds Marc Chaya, chief executive officer of the label Maison Francis Kurkdjian.
Opening with sparkling fresh lemon blossom and bergamot that holds on as a clearly unisex fragrance, it dries down with the depth of a light musky-woody cedar and a soft dewy rose combined. From that point, the wonderful fresh smell takes over. With its sweet-as-a-kiss orange blossom and lily of the valley bouquet, brightened with citrus notes and a burst of aldehydes on a cottony cloud of white musk, it is possibly the most polished interpretation ever of the clean, natural scent.
