Ford Philippines added the Ranger FX4 model to its slate of pickup trucks at the start of last year, bringing its total pickup variants up to 13. The American carmaker sold a total of 9,767 Rangers in 2020 and over half of those (5,093 units) were 4x4 variants, making it the best-selling 4x4 pickup in the country with a whopping 41 percent market share. This January, Ford Philippines said that it sold 800 units of the Ranger out of 1,720 Ford vehicles sold in the country. That catapults it to the number four spot as the bestselling carmaker in the country, dislodging Suzuki and Hyundai.
“Our new Ford Ranger lineup will allow us to continue building on our leadership in the pickup segment in the country,” says PK Umashankar, president and managing director, Ford Philippines. “The new Ranger is set to deliver on its promise of functionality and capability while enabling the diverse needs and lifestyles of our customers.” He further added that one out of two Raptor pickups were exported to the Philippines, making the country the biggest top-of-the-line Ranger performance nameplate market.
On Tuesday, Ford Philippines virtually unveiled its refreshed Ranger pickup lineup, with a new design and exterior enhancements across its Ranger XLS, XLT, and Wildtrak variants. The new
Ranger Wildtrak variants feature a new trapezoidal shape grille with Saber accents. It comes with painted gloss black wheels and gloss black accents on its front grille, lower bumper, rear bumper, fog lamp bezel, exterior mirrors, fender grille, sports bar with Saber insert, roof rail, and tailgate handle, as well as new ‘Wildtrak’ decals on the side door and a 3D ‘Wildtrak’ decal on the tailgate. What’s exclusive on the 4x4 Wildtrak variant is the optional power roller shutter, which is an original equipment from Ford.

The new Ranger lineup is Ford’s pre-emptive strike against its rivals, including Isuzu, which is launching the new D-Max early next month, and Nissan, which reportedly plans to introduce its Navara pickup within the year as well.
