The gifts just keep on piling up for Hidilyn Diaz. Apart from the money (about P50 million and counting), countless companies and brands have been showering the Olympic gold medalist with expressions of gratitude and support for her historic win. She’s getting a house, condo units, free flights, and free food for life.
The latest prize: a new car. The Ayala Group, which distributes Volkswagen, Kia, and Maxus, among other brands, in the Philippines is pledging a brand new, top-of-the-line Kia Stonic from AC Motors and Kia Philippines.
In a post on Thursday (July 28), the Ayala Foundation congratulated Diaz and recognized her as an ‘Atletang Magiting.’ The Foundation also said that it has been supporting weightlifters for years.
The Ayala group’s support for Philippine weightlifters including Diaz dates back to 2016, when BPI turned over training equipment for the Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Gym in Zamboanga. In 2018, Ayala Land, Inc. turned over a check donation to the members of the Samahang Weightlifters ng Pilipinas.
A top of the line Kia Stonic (EX AT) retails for around P925,000 based on current prices.
