A Guide To The Electric Aston Martin Daniel Craig Could Be Driving In Bond 25

Watch the prototype in action

It looks like James Bond is going green. According to The Sun, director Cary Joji Fukunaga has spearheaded a move to get 007 an eco-friendly electric Aston Martin Rapide E for Bond 25.

“This is something Cary pushed for and Daniel and the producers are going along with [...] they all felt the time was right to put him in a zero-emission vehicle,” an insider told The Sun.

A very sensible decision by a man who finds himself in an above-average number of gas-guzzling car chases. The movie lengths would spiral out of control if they included all the times Bond had to pop by an Esso.

Of course, 007 has been driving Aston Martins since Sean Connery's iconic DB5 in Goldfinger. So what do we know about the electric Rapide E?

Details emerged late last year that 155 models were being built by the British manufacturer, and that it would be priced at £250,000. It will feature a top speed of 155mph, getting from 50-70mph in just 1.5 seconds. Watch it in action here:

Impressive stats for an eco-friendly vehicle. According to Evo, it’s all down to the 800-bolt battery architecture which boasts 701lb ft of torque. An hour of charge on an 800V outlet of 100kW will reportedly earn you 310 miles of electric range.

The models are being built at Aston Martin’s new St Athan factory in south Wales, and signal the company’s ambitions for electric cars moving forward. The Rapide E is set to debut this year.
