Maserati's First Hybrid SUV Excites the Senses

The hybrid Levante follows the introduction of the hybrid Ghibli in 2020.

Modena Motorsports, the official distributor of Maserati in the Philippines officially launched the Levante Hybrid at the Bonifacio Global City Maserati showroom on June 14, coinciding with the world premiere held at the Shanghai Auto Show and virtual unveil. This signals the beginning of its electrification of the Italian luxury car brand’s first hybrid SUV after they launched the Ghibli Hybrid sedan in 2020.

Maserati says its new hybrid has a number of unique features in line with the slogan of the SUV being “Faster. Greener. Unique.” The Levante Hybrid is faster than its diesel variant, more sustainable than diesel or gasoline, and offers unique characteristics.

The Maserati Levante Hybrid combines its four-cylinder, two-liter engine with a 48-volt Hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking. It weighs less than its 6-cylinder engine counterparts, both diesel and gasoline, and benefits from a better weight distribution since the battery is placed in the rear without compromising the load capacity by optimally distributing the weight throughout the vehicle. Maserati says the SUV even more agile and fun to drive.

The all-wheel-drive Levante Hybrid has a rated maximum power output of 330 ps and torque of 450 Nm delivered from a low 2,250 rpm, based on the performance data of the new Levante Hybrid. It has a top speed of 240 kph and can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in just six seconds.

Throughout its history, Maserati has been innovative by nature, and with Levante, it continues to extend this philosophy with its foray into the world of electrification. Improving performance while staying true to its brand values, the new Levante Hybrid has the speed and agility while improving fuel economy withut sacrificing driving pleasure and luxury. It also continues to have the distinctive Maserati exhaust note missing in EVs, and minus the range anxiety for long range roadtrips.

Although much of the hybrid variant’s exterior and interiors look similar, there are certain details that distinguishes it as a hybrid car. It uses the blue accent color (already used on the Ghibli Hybrid) visible on the three iconic side air ducts, the brake calipers and the C-pillar logo to define it as a hybrid. Inside, the blue accent appears on the stitching of the seat upholstery.

Like most modern luxury cars, the Levante Hybrid is also connected, thanks to the new Maserati Connect program. The infotainment system enables the driver to check on the car's health, including a notification that alerts the driver when a service is due. Using a Smartphone or Smartwatch, drivers can also stay in contact with their car via the Maserati Connect App or even at home via their virtual personal assistant (Amazon Alexa and Google Assist).

The SRP of the Maserati Levante Hybrid has not been officially disclosed although reports say it starts at P8.8 million.
