Next Time Your Car is Stranded Because of Floods, Remember These Images
Last week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) gave us a glimpse at the troubling garbage situation in the Quiapo area. Images shared by the traffic agency showed canals clogged by solid waste—a contributing factor to our capital’s flood problem.
If last week’s photos weren’t enough of an eye opener, maybe these will be. The problem isn’t limited to Quiapo and its surrounding barangays—this is a Metro Manila-wide issue the MMDA is dealing with this rainy season.
Again, when our city’s drains and canals are clogged with trash, rainwater has nowhere to flow to but out onto the streets. So the next time you’re stranded somewhere following a downpour, waiting for the water to subside, remember these photos.
