The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority seems to have quite a lot up their sleeves, especially where EDSA traffic is concerned. Once the agency is done fully implementing the ban on provincial buses, another ban is also being planned—this time on singles-only cars, said a report by CNN Philippines.

Officially called the Expanded High Occupancy Vehicle policy, the ban is set to be enforced on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Authorities will apprehend cars with single occupants traveling from North Avenue in Quezon City to Magallanes in Makati City and vice versa, according to a Manila Standard report.

"Hindi pa siya agad, definitely, but we see that the HOV is one of the best policies that we can implement. In a sense na it will reduce the volume on EDSA," Bong Nebrija, Metropolitan Manila Develpment Authority (MMDA) Traffic Chief, told CNN Philippines.

This ban on singles-only cars already played with our feelings during its first dry runin 2018, when it drew in much complaints—and hugot reactions—before senators stepped in and told the MMDA to find better solutions. Based on initial data, around 140,000 vehicles will be affected by the ban. There is no word yet on how the decongestion of EDSA will affect other roads.
