Despite their attempt to give back to customers with a huge 50 percent discount on all fuels, Petron’s efforts kind of backfired when streets were clogged with cars racing to avail their promo.
Petron has been trending all day, with customers helping spread the word about the big discount and with customers complaining of the long lines and crazy traffic.
In response, Petron released this apology statement:
“We would like to thank all the motorists who availed of our 50 percent price-off promo at selected Petron stations today. It is our desire to extend assistance to the public by offering discounted fuels for a limited period, as well as give back to all the loyal customers who continuously support Petron. We recognize that this activity has caused some inconvenience due to heavy traffic.
We sincerely apologize and have taken note of all your feedback and suggestions.
We thank all the traffic enforcers, the MMDA, and all the LGU and barangay officials who helped manage the flow of vehicles near our stations. And again, we thank the customers for their support and understanding.”
Expect traffic for the next few days as customers rush to meet the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. discount cut-off. Once the clock hits 1 p.m., prices go back to normal.
Gas went as low as about P20 per liter, and you can score around 50 liters for only P1,000. Now that’s an early Christmas gift: cheap gas for a very long road trip.
If you’re determined to get that Christmas discount from Petron, get ready for another round of Carmageddon tomorrow. But honestly, for a shot at 50 percent off at a full tank, it’s worth it.
