SLEX to Implement New Scheme to Further Improve Traffic

Motorists down south breathed a collective sigh of relief after the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) finished installing a new two-lane steel ramp for northbound traffic along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
The move pretty much ended the busy thoroughfare’s recent traffic Armageddon by freeing up the bottleneck around the Alabang viaduct. Now, SMC says it will be implementing a new traffic scheme to improve the flow of cars along SLEX even further.
Beginning December 9, 2019, the Alabang-Zapote Road Elevated On and Off-Ramp near Bunye South Station will be closed Monday to Saturday during the following hours:
- Northbound – 4pm to 9pm
- Southbound – 6am to 8am
While the ramp is closed, SMC says northbound motorists can hop on via the ramp before the Sucat area. Southbound vehicles will have to use the new ramp by the Alabang viaduct, while drivers going to Alabang or the Alabang-Zapote can exit through the Filinvest Toll plaza.
“We’ve seen a big improvement in the flow of traffic at the SLEX this past week. Traffic moves quickly even during peak rush hours, and there is no longer a sea of cars on the SLEX,” SMC President Ramon Ang said in a statement.
“Nevertheless, I have directed all our personnel to continue to closely monitor the traffic situation so we can make necessary adjustments quickly, particularly in areas prone to heavy traffic,” he added.
Be sure to spread the word regarding the new SLEX traffic scheme. Do you think this will smoothen the flow of traffic further?
