Agot Isidro is a woman who makes no secret of her views. You may have seen her at the protest movements in Luneta last Thursday, singing a Filipino version of Les Miserables’ “Do You Hear The People Sing?” on stage and in chorus with a group of singers. You may have read her Facebook post last year, in which she called the President out for daring the United Nations and the European Union to withdraw their aid to the Philippines. You may also know that on top of being a famous singer and an award-winning actress, she graduated with latin honors from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and holds a master’s degree in communication from Ateneo. And if you know these things, you also know she’s not a woman to mess around with.

She showed as much when we spoke to her for our August 2017 issue, in which she represented Filipina beauty alongside Anne Curtis-Smith, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Zsa-Zsa Padilla, and Angel Aquino. She entered the room and, without needing to make any overt pronouncements or gestures, immediately made her presence felt. It’s a strength that she exudes, no doubt, but also a sort of grace that can only come from a woman who is as accomplished as she is, and as confident in her own view of the world.
