The boisterous pair of Anderson .Paak and Cordae are back for another collaborative album, Heavy, with both fellas dropping a zany R&B and soul single that features a cheeky Bill Withers sample of "Lovely Day."
.Paak, who is among the most dynamic and versatile musicians in the popular music scene today, previously worked with the sharp rapper Cordae back in 2019 with their breakout hit "RNP" from his debut record, The Lost Boy.
Other tie-ups include the groovy "Two Tens" in 2023 and "Summer Drop" in 2024.
It seems like anything Paak touches turns into a golden project, especially with his Midas touch in anything he produces with fellow pop soul dynamo Bruno Mars, as heard in their Grammy-sweeping project the self-titled Silk Sonic album.
"A Good Day" is definitely for the more hip-hop-adjacent audience that desperately needs new life, and Paak's savant-level percussion skills and Cordae's poignant pen game are a match made in heaven.
Paak previously worked with the late great Mac Miller with classic tracks such as "Dang!" that saw the greater popular music scene audience open up to the Grammy Award-winning musician. He was also previously given the nod as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people as he cemented his impact on music and culture through his near-perfect discography of records.
Cordae, on the other hand, is among the most underrated and most skilled lyricists in the hip hop game today. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native remains a powerhouse in the scene with multi-platinum-certified records and collaborations with greats such as Eminem, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, H.E.R, and even Stevie Wonder.
