It's hard to believe that Alliance Française de Manille has staged Fête de la Musique Philippines 32 times since its inception in 1994.

The festival is catered to those completely immersed in the breadth of existing musical genres and subgenres that continue to evolve seemingly every year, without an entrance fee.

This year's main stage will feature local music giants such as Filipino rock/funk band Lola Amour and the beloved jazz/spoken word poetry outfit Radioactive Sago Project led by Lourd de Veyra.

The free music extravaganza will run the entire month of June, operating under the theme of "For the People, By the People," across the diverse stages. in Metro Manila and 33 provincial destinations nationwide.

The main stage and event will kick off on June 20 at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati, stretched across the Makati Street Meet and Makati City Fiesta.

The billing will also include Mindanoan hip-hop group Morobeats, the Jewelmer Jaz Band, French krautrock-psychedelia trio Meule, and French electric harpist and singer Héloïse La Harpe, who is known for seamlessly blending jazz, electronica, and classical sensibilities into her performances.

At the same time, the Taste of France French Market will be running parallel at the Paseo de Roxas from June 20 to 21.

Much like past iterations, the festival will be jumpstarted with the sound healing segment Music Heals, which will involve sound meditation, workshops, incense testing, and other activities on June 10.

Classical pianist Maxime Zecchini will also play two intimate shows the following week, namely at The Writer's Bar at Raffles Makati on June 14, then Alliance Française on June 15.

Zecchini is probably part of only a handful of exceptional left-handed pianists in the world who move between classical and contemporary masterpieces.

FêtePH has always championed moving the needle forward in protecting the intellectual property and creative growth of musicians. These discourses will be tackled at Mint College on June 19 and will feature French industry leaders Gwendolenn Sharp and Leila Bellot.

On June 26, the Makati Pocket Stages will be scattered across the city with the month of transformative music closing out on June 29 with Project Yazz at the Long Bar in Raffles Makati, where vocalist Faye Yupano and bassist Bergan Nuñez perform their reinterpretations of OPM classics.
