Laiya in San Juan, Batangas is one of the country’s most-visited beaches. With its fine, golden sands, the area is a popular destination for visitors from all over the country and beyond. Several resorts offer conveniences for every kind of traveler, from budget to luxury stays.

Club Laiya is one such resort, but what’s different about it is that it’s part of a larger, more ambitious development by Landco LifestyleVentures of Landco Pacific Corporation, the property arm of the MVP Group. The idea is to build destination estates that go beyond traditional real estate. Camper units are compact but functional, designed for short stays without feeling cramped. They’re like self-sustained pods that feel like you can attach them to your SUV and motor on to the next destination. Each one is equipped with creature comforts: living area, toilet and bath, bedroom, TVs, refrigerator, and Wi-Fi access. They’re positioned closer to the water so guests can wake up with stunning beachside views.

Cocoon rooms, meanwhile, are much smaller, and pare the experience down to the barest of essentials: one room big enough for just one bed, a TV, a mini-Fridge and small storage areas. Able to accommodate couples and solo travelers, the rooms are built on top of each other near the pool area but still facing the sea. Toilet and bath facilities are communal, and guests will need to walk a bit to reach them.

There’s one big infinity swimming pool in the center of the property, with pathways clearly marked going to and from the camper units and the cocoon rooms. Guests can enjoy a casual swim in the ocean or the pool, or simply park themselves in one of the lounge chairs located in both areas. There are also cabanas spread throughout the area.

There are two dining options that offer sustenance that can satisfy most cravings. The Sands serves Filipino favorites—from sinigang and lechon kawali to vegetable dishes like chopsuey and pinakbet. Captain Barbozza, meanwhile, is a beachfront restaurant whose specialty is grilled fare, such as ribs, barbecue, pizzas, and pastas. There’s also a selection of beers and cocktails for those looking to enjoy a sip with sand beneath their feet.

While it’s still a work in progress, Club Laiya is meant to attract both short-term guests and long-term investors looking for second homes or income-generating properties. Clearly its developers envision it not just as a resort but a full beachside community.
