Opinion: How AI Faked Its Way Into the Elite
We spent decades teaching machines how to feel, only to realize we have forgotten how to do it ourselves.

Cynical Cognition and Algorithmic Addiction
The viral phenomenon of the fictional AI-generated Sterling family has captured millions of social media users through addictive, short-form, and C-suite plays on TikTok and Reels. These synthesized fictional billionaire dynasties tap into voyeurism for extreme wealth with fast-paced scenes of betrayal and pride breaking the dawn of artificial humanity, where data optimization and deepfake actors in digital entities command global attention spans.
Artificial intelligence is certainly changing human relationships, identity, and modern romance, focusing on the dark, hidden, or legally grey areas of the AI boom. Most have minimalist, high-impact titles and plots that rely on punchy dialogues. Themes prevail because we are currently living in a historical inflection point where science fiction and corporate drama have collapsed into everyday reality in the perennial tug-of-war of the rich and the poor.
The real-time and multi-billion power struggle scripts finally make tech elites the new ‘Wall Street wolves’ barons. Tales about ego, power, and control tap right into post-modern C-suite fascination and executive-class anxiety. The dramatic appeal creates profound psychological loneliness and algorithmic addiction. It forces us to ask existential questions about empathy, validation, and true love. It raises the stakes for the artistic class and introduces deep dread that human taste, culture, and storytelling are being automated away by endless optimization.
They tell us about long-lost heirs, vicious inheritance battles, shocking secret identities, rags-to-riches stories, boardroom coups, rogue founders from the underworld, and trillion-dollar corporate treacheries to stir high-octane plots. Sometimes, mind-bending dramas revolve around synthetic intimacy, obsession, and identity loss.
The short-form episodic content has perfected the formula for algorithmic addiction, turning vertical soaps into prime-time television. Despite the absurdity of scripts and pixelated visuals, audiences are still hooked on watching the reels. They find themselves captivated by the unpredictability of cynical cognitive AI storylines. It sparks an urge to outsmart the system for viewers to stay glued to the small screen just to see how wild the plot twists get or to accurately predict a cliffhanger before it happens.
High-Octane Narratives with Expected Paywall Traps
AI reels compress an entire techno-noir narrative arc into seconds with a sharp setup, an immediate betrayal, and a gut-punch emotional lesson. There are zero narrative fillers. The pacing perfectly mirrors the hyper-short attention spans of the scrolling audience. Viewers are forced to comb through the comments, swipe to the next part, or download a specialized app to get immediate closure. The format has evolved beyond passive consumption into more connected entertainment where characters interact with netizens.
The interactive characters replace human writers. Audiences are developing deep emotional attachments to synthetic entities. These risk creating an ‘empathy vacuum’ where real-world human relationships cater to a user’s exact psychological needs. Micro-dramas are mathematically engineered to trigger dopamine loops through rapid cliffhangers. The social consequence is a further degradation of collective attention spans, making complex human art in cinema and literature painfully boring to Gen Z and Alpha generations.
Traditional K-pop drama relies on finite seasons. The future drama belongs to endlessly generating narratives of the same western-looking AI actors with American accents performing distinct roles, but often integrated with Asian values and gestures. An AI show will never have an end, but it will continuously adapt its plotline based on real-time viewer biometrics, engagement metrics, and facial expressions to keep the audience hooked forever. More so, watchers will no longer passively watch a character make decisions. Drama will blend seamlessly with roleplay with the death of the static protagonist. Audiences will text, talk to, or digitally insert themselves into the narratives, shifting the medium from storytelling to story-living.
The entertainment and media landscapes are experiencing a massive paradigm shift. Thousands of AI-generated micro-drama videos are flooding the digital platforms monthly. The world has entered a hyper-efficient era where algorithms can easily map out what netizens want to see, enhancing engagement and exploiting our psychological urge to know ‘what happens next’ and search for paywalls to watch the climax and denouement of the AI reel plays.
Democratization of Digital Content
The explosion of algorithmic AI reels is completely rewiring human psychology and dismantling the traditional entertainment industry. We are moving away from shared cultural moments and entering an era of hyper-personalized and automated fiction. The creators generate highly polished cinematic avatars by matching 3D animations. Voiceovers execute intense telenovela-style dialogue without requiring real-life Hollywood budgets.
Mass media used to create a ‘cultural monoculture,’ but AI brought us hyper-personalized reels, allowing individuals to watch various stories, characters, and moral dilemmas at their own pace. It erodes shared cultural touchstones and family Sunday night movie watching. In the end, the genuine shift in media power does not empower an indie filmmaker; survival instead relies on massive and automated corporate factories.
Hence, democratization of digital content has hyper-saturated producers to shift now from premium value of production quality to conceptual originality, inevitably using AI.
The algorithmic rise of AI families like the Sterling, Moretti, Whitmore, Blackwood, and Vance stripped Hollywood and Bollywood of their monopoly on our cultural obsession with the ultra-wealthy. With nothing more than a consumer smartphone and an array of generative algorithms, anyone can now manufacture a billionaire empire capable of hijacking millions of global attention spans. Yet, beneath the urgent national security warnings of an automated, Chinese-manufactured media apparatus, where algorithms weaponize translated webnovels as tools for soft power and subtle behavioral conditioning, lies a strange paradox: this algorithmic Trojan horse is successfully democratizing the digital entertainment playing field.
