Remember when we all wanted to turn back the clock with those incredible time-turner things from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban? We were also simultaneously baffled why Potter and the gang never used those things again in the sequels (seriously, those things would have solved most of their problems).
American heritage watch brand Timex has just dropped a collab for the ages with a refresh of its iconic silhouettes inspired by the Hogwarts houses and the curious characters and trinkets from the massive franchise.
The snazzy collection is already out in the US, with Timex Philippines saying it'll be out locally soon. No question, the main attraction of this collision of the worlds of wizardry and horology is the Harry Potter x Timex Waterbury Skeleton mechanical timepiece.
This astonishingly striking watch is powered by a 21-jewel automatic movement housed within an open-heart-style design, where a second-hand subdial rests above the 5 o'clock position and brown faceted crystals mark the hours. The 39mm dial is also fashioned with a K1 scratch-resistant mineral crystal with a brown ceramic bezel inlay etched with "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" at 12 o'clock. We also get a crocodile-grain brown leather strap complete with a quick-release spring bar system and a deployant clasp reminiscent of those used by Cartier.
It is as otherworldly and mystical as one would expect an alumnus of the premier wizarding institution would don out in the wild. Being the only mechanical watch in the collection, it is also going to cost you the prettiest penny at $549 (P33,721.49). Right as we mentioned the understated and classy pieces from Cartier, Timex has also updated its unisex Tank-style Hailey watch, which now bears the four crystal markers in the house colors of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.
This is for the dress-watch-conscious individuals, as you get a clean champagne-cream-colored dial with vertical brushing, framed by a gold-tone rectangular case. There is also a cheeky little "H" in the typography of Hogwarts embossed on the brown leather strap with the same quick-release spring bars that aims to preserve the lifespan of the strap. This is a quartz piece with a mineral crystal for decent durability.
The unprecedented collaboration also includes endearing variations of the beloved budget king, the Timex Weekender Indiglo ($139), celebrating whichever Hogwarts house your decades-old Pottermore exam assigned you to.
Rounding out the special edition pieces are separate leather-strap Weekenders illustrated with the anxiety-inducing Sorting Hat ($179), a delicious pint of Butterbeer ($179), and the starting point for all wizards and witches, Platform 9¾ ($169).
