The Rolex Daytona is one of the brand's, and the world's, most sought-after watches. Price aside, getting your hands on one is made exponentially difficult due to the fact that purchasing one through a Rolex retailer directly requires you to build a relationship with a shop assistant.

When it comes to finding alternatives, you want a lookalike, not a clone – if the watch is a straight-up duplicate, then you just look like you're trying to pass it off as a real Rolex Daytona. You're much better off investing in a watch that has a similar style and its own heritage. If that's what you're looking for, then we've got you sorted.

Read on to see the watches that we think you should look into if you're searching for something a little like (but not too much like) a Rolex Daytona.

When it comes to Rolex Daytona lookalikes, you can't get much more affordable than the Q Timex Chronographs. This model is inspired by the very first motoring watches, while also celebrating the legacy of the Q Timex from the 1970s.

With a chronograph movement accurate to milliseconds within a month and a black tachymeter bezel, this watch comes at a fantastic price point without sacrificing any race-ready functionality. Meanwhile, the sleek leather strap means that it's also just dressy enough to be wearable for a formal occasion. Can you get much more versatile than that?

On the more premium end of Daytona alternatives, you have the Hamilton Jazzmaster, with a luxurious across the dial and stainless steel bracelet that prove it means business. Its dark blue dial offers something different to your standard black or white without being too loud, and adds a sporty look.

Function and style once again go hand in hand, as this is a highly technical piece, too. With a 60-hour power reserve, 100 metres of water resistance, luminated indices and a tachymeter, it's hardier than your standard racing chronograph at that price point. This one'll put a little bit more of a dent in the wallet, but it's about as high-end as you can get without truly breaking the bank.

Taking design notes from sports cars from the 1980s and 1990s, this Seiko Prospex Speedtimer also inherits the 'Panda' design, the black sub-dials contrasting a bright white dial, that has become a favourite among fans of the brand.

Best of all, this Seiko watch is also solar-powered, charged by both natural and electric light. This piece has a 6 month power reserve with a full charge, 100 metres of water resistance and magnetic resistance.

And if the black and white design is a little on the simple side, in your eyes, then there's no need to worry. Seiko also makes one with a pale pink, almost salmon-hued, dial.

But that's not even all – the design is so popular amongst Seiko fans that the brand also offers it in a third colourway. Without the black tachymeter bezel, this one feels slightly more minimal outside the soft mint green colour of the dial.

As well as the typical racing chronograph, Timex also a watch that leans into the more fun side of the brand's heritage. The American watchmaker has been making character watches adorned with icons of the world's favourite mischievous beagle, Snoopy, since 1969. Over the years, the brand has made more than we can count, and it was only a matter of time until the Q Timex Chronograph got the Peanuts polish.

While it isn't exactly on the cheapest end of Rolex Daytona alternatives, it would be wrong to make a list without including a choice from its sister brand, Tudor. The Black Bay is an icon of the horological world in its own right, but we can't help notice just how much the chronograph version looks like a Daytona.

Recreating Seiko's 'Panda' chronograph from 1972, which itself was evolved from the first Speedtimer made in 1969, this premium take on the Seiko Prosper Speedtimer has a sporty aesthetic (with the multi-row bracelet of the original) and even more refined functionality.
