Hyundai Prices the Staria Hybrid to Actually Sell
The new Staria Hybrid starts at only P1.999 million, which is the clearest sign that hybrid tech isn't a luxury add-on anymore.

When Hyundai first introduced the Staria, it proved that a people mover didn't have to resemble a utilitarian box on wheels. Its spaceship-inspired silhouette, expansive glasshouse, and lounge-like cabin challenged long-held notions of what a premium family van could be.
Several years later, Hyundai Motor Philippines has made its most important move yet: swapping in a hybrid powertrain.
Launched last July 9, the new Hyundai Staria Hybrid completes Hyundai Philippines' growing hybrid portfolio and makes electrified family mobility considerably more attainable. With a starting price of Php 1.999 million, Hyundai has positioned the Staria Hybrid as one of the most compelling value propositions in the premium people-mover segment, offering the efficiency of hybrid technology without the compromises usually attached to full battery-electric vehicles.
The Philippines may be embracing electrification, but for many buyers, hybrids remain the more practical stepping stone. Unlike a fully electric vehicle, the Staria Hybrid doesn't require a home charger, doesn't force charging stops on long provincial trips, and doesn't ask drivers to change their habits. It simply does what every hybrid is designed to do best: combine a turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor that switches or blends power sources depending on driving conditions.

For Filipino motorists who spend hours navigating Metro Manila traffic, that translates into measurable benefits. Hyundai claims a best-in-class fuel economy of 17.7 km/L, an impressive figure for a vehicle capable of carrying up to eleven passengers. In heavy stop-and-go traffic, where conventional engines burn the most fuel, the hybrid system leans on electric assistance while recovering energy through regenerative braking, resulting in lower fuel consumption, fewer emissions, and a quieter ride.
A Disarmingly Aggressive Pricing Scheme
The pricing, not the technology, is what caught people off guard.
Starting at Php 1,999,000 for the nine-seater GL Hybrid, Hyundai has effectively erased much of the premium traditionally attached to hybrid vehicles. The lineup spans multiple variants, from the entry-level GL models up to the seven-seat Premium Plus at Php 3.199 million, letting buyers pick a configuration based on lifestyle instead of settling for a single flagship trim.
The complete lineup:
2.2 Diesel Cargo 6MT – P1.499 million
STARIA HEV GL 9-Seater – P1.999 million
STARIA HEV GL 11-Seater – P2.079 million
STARIA HEV GLS 9-Seater – P2.389 million
STARIA HEV Premium 9-Seater – P2.999 million
STARIA HEV Premium Plus 7-Seater – P3.199 million
That spread matters because it puts hybrid technology within reach of buyers who'd normally be cross-shopping a diesel SUV, an executive MPV, or even a premium pickup.
One Vehicle, Multiple Personalities
The Staria Hybrid's biggest advantage is how many roles it can fill and how many features it's jam-packed with.
For families, it's a spacious cabin that can comfortably move three generations on long road trips while cutting fuel costs. For entrepreneurs and business owners, it doubles as an executive shuttle that projects sophistication without the operating expenses that usually come with large premium vehicles. Hotels, airports, luxury resorts, and transport providers stand to benefit from the fuel efficiency while still offering guests a vehicle whose futuristic design turns heads years after its debut. Even corporate executives who typically travel in premium SUVs may find the cabin's second-row accommodations better suited to being chauffeured, where comfort matters more than commanding the wheel.
A new three-row configuration for the nine-seater variant and extended seat rails for the seven-seater add further flexibility, letting owners prioritize passenger comfort or cargo space depending on the day.

Technology That Works Beyond the Drive
The new Staria Hybrid is also Hyundai's first vehicle in the Philippines to feature Bluelink, the company's connected car platform. Unlike standard smartphone mirroring, Bluelink pulls real-time traffic and weather data directly into the infotainment system through Hyundai Live Services, refreshed every two minutes. Owners can also remotely check diagnostics, lock or unlock doors, run the climate control, or locate the vehicle through the companion app.
For families sharing a vehicle or professionals juggling busy schedules, these features turn it into more than transportation. They make it an extension of the owner's digital life.
Inside, Hyundai has modernized the cabin with a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, USB-C charging ports across multiple rows, wireless smartphone charging, heated and ventilated seats, power-adjustable seating with lumbar support, a shift-by-wire gear selector that frees up cabin space, and a panoramic dual sunroof.

Intuitive Engineering, A Reflection of the Changing Market
The hybrid system contributes more than fuel economy. Hyundai has built in e-Handling, which uses the electric motor to sharpen agility and stability through corners, and e-Ride, which minimizes body movement over speed bumps and during sudden acceleration by managing torque delivery. Neither is something drivers will consciously notice, but together they add up to a smoother, more composed ride, which matters in a vehicle built to carry a full load of passengers.
Safety has also been strengthened through Hyundai SmartSense, adding Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Side Parking Distance Warning, alongside six airbags throughout the cabin.
The Staria Hybrid also reflects how fast the Philippine automotive market is moving. A few years ago, hybrid technology was largely confined to luxury sedans and premium SUVs. Today, Hyundai is bringing that same technology into one of the country's most practical vehicle segments at pricing that challenges conventional diesel alternatives.
For Hyundai Motor Philippines, the Staria Hybrid rounds out its current hybrid lineup. For Filipino consumers, it might mean something bigger: that choosing the cleaner, more efficient option no longer means paying extra for it.
