Bonifacio Global City once again became a playground for performance and philanthropy as the 7th edition of Sports Cars for a Cause brought together hundreds of automotive enthusiasts, families, and supporters for one of the Philippines' most anticipated charity motoring gatherings.
Organized by businessman and car enthusiast Charlie Rufino, the event has steadily grown into a signature gathering for the local automotive community. This year marked its largest edition yet, expanding beyond its usual footprint to include 5th Avenue for the first time, alongside the familiar stretch of 4th Avenue and 27th Street around Six/NEO and Seven/NEO.
The expansion reflected the event's theme this year: "It Takes a Village."
And the village showed up in full force.
According to Rufino, the turnout exceeded expectations. "We got a record draw of 400 cars registered, plus overflow," he shared with Esquire Philippines. "I am waiting for the final collection report but it looks like we will exceed last year's record by a good margin." Last year, the event raised close to P13 million for the same charity.
The annual gathering raises funds for the Sisters of Mary School, a fully donor-funded institution that provides underprivileged students with free high school education, TESDA-accredited technical training, housing, and medical care. The cause has been central to the event since its inception, turning what could have been a typical car meet into something far more meaningful.

Rufino, who serves as President of NEO, the developer behind several landmark office buildings in Bonifacio Global City, has long championed initiatives that bring communities together in the district his company helped shape. Over the past two decades, NEO has played a key role in the transformation of BGC into one of Metro Manila's premier business and lifestyle hubs. Hosting Sports Cars for a Cause in the heart of the district is fitting: it blends urban space, community engagement, and philanthropy.
"This is about showing up," Rufino said during the event. "Showing up for the kids, showing up for each other, and using what we love to make a real difference. The cars bring people in but the cause keeps us together. Expanding to 5th Avenue shows what a committed community can achieve."
The expanded venue allowed hundreds of vehicles to line the streets, from classic sports cars to modern supercars, creating a rolling showcase of automotive passion. But as impressive as the machinery was, the people behind the cars were just as significant.

Prestigious organizations such as the Manila Sports Car Club turned out in strong numbers, joined by numerous brand-based communities that represent the backbone of the country's enthusiast culture.
Among the most visible was the Miata Club Philippines, whose members arrived en masse in their beloved Mazda roadsters. Mazda Philippines president Steven Tan explained that their participation also carried a charitable commitment.
"I feel it's important that our community celebrates sports car culture as part of the larger community," Tan said. "To support Charlie Rufino's effort to raise support for Sisters of Mary, we pledged P500 for every MX-5 who makes the effort to register and participate this morning. We counted 76 Miatas, which means they helped raise P38,000 to support the cause."
The event wasn't limited to sports cars either. Groups such as Overland Kings and Wheel Gallery brought a different flavor to the gathering, displaying rugged off-road rigs and outdoor camping setups that added variety and drew curious crowds. Their presence underscored how the event has evolved into a broader celebration of automotive culture.
Car personality Angie King was also on hand, drawing a younger generation of supercar fans and social media followers. She was spotted alongside apl.de.ap, the Filipino-American musician best known as a member of the Black Eyed Peas, who performed live on stage as part of the day's entertainment.

Another prominent group was the supercar contingent from Cars and Coffee, led by Darf Mercado, who said some 50 supercars were on full display from their group alone, including a McLaren 600LT, a classic Shelby Cobra, and several Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
The music, food booths, and open street layout gave the gathering a festival atmosphere, making it just as enjoyable for families and casual visitors as for die-hard car enthusiasts.
Behind the scenes, the event was made possible through the support of numerous partners including Calvin Ayre Foundation, NEO, Shell Pilipinas Corporation, Michelin Philippines, BDO, Threadborne Group, Ascott, Launch Pad Events Technical & Consultancy Services Inc., Wildflour, Manam, Nomad Musika, and Vision Express. Raymond Rufino, CEO of NEO, said the event reflects the company's broader philosophy on community-building.
"We are proud to once again be a part of Sports Cars For A Cause," he said. "This event embodies our mission of creating places that bring people together, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cause that uplifts lives while strengthening community spirit and connections." He also extended his thanks to the many clubs and communities that helped make the event possible, saying he was especially grateful for the enthusiasts and car clubs that continue to support the gathering year after year.
The seventh edition proved the formula still works: great cars, generous people, and a cause worth showing up for.
