The Japanese automaker is finally stepping into the fully electric mainstream under its own badge, and the Toyota bZ4X still drives like a Toyota instead of trying to be a Tesla.
Out on the road, the bZ4X immediately disarms. The design is sharp without being polarizing, with crisp LED lighting and a planted stance on 20-inch wheels. It also retains a practical 200mm ground clearance, a detail that signals this EV was designed with real-world Filipino conditions in mind.
The dual-motor setup puts out 227 PS at the front and 120 PS at the rear, enough to feel quick on demand and composed everywhere else. Ground clearance is 200 mm, the claimed range is 570 kilometers, and toggling X-Mode opens up light off-road capabilities. Every unit ships with a wall box charger and a portable charger included.
Step inside and the cabin feels open and calming, helped by a panoramic moonroof and a clean horizontal layout. Ventilated seats for driver and passenger, a 7-inch digital cluster, and a 14-inch infotainment display. Modern, but intuitive. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with dual wireless charging pads and multiple USB-C ports.

A wide top-down shot of Toyota's fully electric car

Toyota Safety Sense bundles adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, and a pre-collision system as standard. Every unit also comes with a wall box charger and a portable charger included, which lowers the barrier considerably for first-time EV buyers. Pair that with Toyota's dealer network and aftersales track record, and the case gets harder to argue with.
The bZ4X is available for a test drive at the Auto Focus 2026 Summer Multi-Brand Test Drive Festival, May 7 to 10, at Block 16 of the SM MOA Grounds.
