Once upon a time, a lonely blacksmith forged a thousand iron fairies every night and at the end of each night, these fairies would all fly away.
This is the fable behind arguably the world’s most fantastical bar and theater show, The Iron Fairies, which first opened in Central, Hong Kong in October 2013. The reception to the show has been phenomenal and its overwhelming success prompted management to launch three more locations in Kuala Lumpur, Bali, and Bangkok. This year, its magic travels to the Philippines as The Iron Fairies Manila is set to open in Bonifacio Global City in February 2026.
A joint venture between children’s book author and designer Ashley Sutton and business partner Sandeep Sekhri, The Iron Fairies Manila will take Filipino guests into the hidden workshop of a blacksmith as they put the world on pause and experience an enchanted realm inhabited by mystical creatures.

Taking cues from the flagship in Hong Kong, the Manila location promises to deliver a truly unique experience through its signature otherworldly interiors. Raw materials, aged timber, rusted iron, buttery leather, and strict attention to detail provide an exquisite feast for the senses. The venue’s steel fittings, dramatic lighting, along with plush, velvet-clad furniture help tell the story of the mythical iron workers who once dwelled in this enchanted space.
Inspired by an old Australian mine thought to be inhabited by fairies, Sutton seeks to create magic for nightlife by immersing guests in this dark, intricate world he has created through impressive storytelling with the use of design. There are 10,000 handcrafted iron figurines depicting these fairies spread across the space. The mythical beings are suspended from the ceiling or tucked away in display nooks that, coupled with light design, will produce theatric results. Tinier fairies will also be placed inside glass bottles that will line some of the walls and bar shelves to convey the message of being able to capture beauty albeit ephemerally.
Sutton’s “design opera” blends heavy, industrial machinery parts with bespoke copper pipes and soft delicate fabrics. The Iron Fairies allow patrons to momentarily escape from the reality of their busy lives and return to childhood wonder. Sutton and his team actually call their venues “sanctuaries for the imaginative.”

As the creative force behind this one-of-a-kind nightlife concept, Sutton continues to be at the helm of design for The Iron Fairies, making sure that its Manila outpost lives up to the standard its predecessors have set. Sekhri, founder and CEO of Dining Concepts, will put to good use his vast experience in the Asian hospitality industry by overseeing local operations of the newest location. With the landscape of nightlife increasingly changing in recent years, The Iron Fairies promises to bring a truly world-class and uniquely creative option to the Philippines.
The Iron Fairies Manila is scheduled to open in February 2026 at the Smith Bell Building in BGC.
