5 Moments That Made Gov Ball 2026 One to Remember

The 16th installment of Governors Ball, New York’s annual signature summer music festival was definitely unforgettable. The three-day, multi-stage, multi-genre music experience featured some of the best acts in the world and with special thanks to Secret Fresh, Esquire Philippines was there to provide updates and highlights on social media live from Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.

Just in time to celebrate New York Music Month and to officially welcome summer in the greatest city in the world, Gov Ball 2026’s lineup was as hot as the sweltering New York summer sun. It was a fun three days of world-class music, great food and drinks, and just awesome vibes. Here’s a rundown of some of the best memories from the weekend that was.

The city has been all about the Knicks and even all the way in Queens, you could still feel the love for the team that just won this year’s NBA Championship. Fluttering in the wind way above the stage the entire weekend were blue and orange Knicks flags just in case anybody forgot.

Day 1’s headliner was Lorde and it was absolutely one of the best performances of the entire festival. Only problem was it was happening at the same time as Game 2. To address this pretty serious concern for fans in attendance who could not miss the game, the organizers set up a big screen a short distance from the Verizon stage that provided a watch party for festival goers. Other fans, such as myself, left a couple songs before Lorde’s set ended to catch the L train back to the city just in time for the fourth quarter of the game and the madness that ensued around The Garden afterwards.   

Filipino representation was strong in this year’s lineup with Katseye performing on Friday  and Dominic Fike on Sunday. Katseye member Sophia Laforteza held it down for the motherland with some of her fans even bringing large Philippine flags to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

Day 2 saw the schedule cut short with performances of Amyl and the Sniffers and headliner Kali Uchis canceled while Blood Orange was postponed to the next morning. Severe weather early Saturday evening battered Queens and other parts of the tri-state area with over 60 mph winds uprooting trees, causing flight delays and suspension of train service in New York and New Jersey.

Fortunately, Saturday’s headliner Stray Kids were able to finish their set and festivities for Day 2 concluded about three hours earlier than originally scheduled before the weather got ugly.

The performance of Jennie from Blackpink has to be in the top three from all weekend. She came out with amazing energy and the crowd gave that energy back for the entirety of her performance.

New York, home to hip-hop, warmly welcomed Clipse to the Snapchat stage of Gov Ball 2026. Pusha T and Malice rocked the mic right for the estimated 50,000 attendees for Sunday, which made up a third of the sold-out 150,000 total crowd for the festival this year.

The multi-Grammy-winning artist was front-row to watch her partner A$AP Rocky’s performance. Spotted together with Jennie by the stage, the two were seen enjoying the set, which unfortunately had to be cut short by organizers at exactly 10 p.m. by turning off the rapper’s microphone mid-song to the disappointment of his fans. A$AP Rocky’s set, scheduled for 8:45 p.m., began a little past 9pm and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park follows a strict 10pm curfew.

Although everyone wished he could have kept the show going some more, we’ll take it that we got to party with Rihanna Sunday night with the Harlem-born and bred rapper bringing his “Don’t Be Dumb” tour to Gov Ball.
