Homegrown tech-forward coffee chain Pickup Coffee has made its debut among the Philippine companies part of the Endeavor Outliers this year, a list of companies within the organization's network of "high-impact" entrepreneurs who have displayed exceptional and sustainable growth in the past year.

Other firms based in Manila that made the list include the e-commerce enabler Great Deals, the tech-enabled B2B platform GrowSari, the digital neobank Tonik, and the consumer finance app BillEase.

The first two companies are outliers for the fifth consecutive year, while BillEase and Tonik have made back-to-back appearances.

Endeavor is a non-profit organization that invests in entrepreneurs that it deems to have the "most" potential. Pickup Coffee joined the ranks of the organization's network in May 2024 along with other local food industry players such as Bo's Coffee and Zark's Burgers.

The piping hot coffee chain, which has a ubiquitous number of branches nationwide and even expanded operations in Mexico, picked up ground in boosting its capital after joining the network of prolific entrepreneurs a few years ago.

"Pickup Coffee has scaled by combining affordability with operational efficiency, all the way from Southeast Asia to Mexico," according to Endeavor.

"Instead of heading to large developed markets, these companies have decided to transfer hard-earned operational know-how, often built in complex, resource-constrained environments..."

The coffee chain is a venture capital-backed operation founded by Diego Lorenzo and Jaime González Fernández in 2022 focusing on affordability and quality.

Prominent angel investment firms Foxmont Capital Partners, Go-Ventures, and Saison Capital are among the primary backers of Pickup Coffee, raising more than $40 million in a Series A1 fund and reaching $130 million in valuation.

"Outliers is built on a network of trust, where founders can take off the 'hero mask' and be real with each other," said Nasim Novin, lead director of entrepreneur experience at Endeavor.

"It's really lonely at the top, and having a community of like-minded founders who've been in your shoes is a beautiful thing."
