Tech, obviously, is here to stay, and various industries have already accelerated their digital transformation, whether it's automating business processes or prioritizing tech-based platforms. But other traditional organizations have yet to keep up, often challenged by complex setups, unstable infrastructure, and steep learning curves.

Software tech company Optimum Innovatus is bridging that gap by focusing on what truly matters: "simplicity, accessibility, and convenience." Rather than building technology for technology’s sake, the company creates intuitive, lightweight solutions tailored to real-world operational realities. This user-first approach is already driving global impact through platforms like SpeedyCourse.com—which connects over three million users and 5,000 course providers across 18 countries with 60,000 active courses—alongside myZERiX, a flexible communication management platform designed for cross-industry scalability.

In this exclusive interview, founder Irene Chua shares how software tech company Optimum Innovatus is empowering traditional organizations to overcome tech adoption barriers, simplify complex workflows, and build digital systems that people can realistically and comfortably use every day.

The Genesis of the Tech

Did Optimum Innovatus start with just one product, or was it always the intention to diversify with different verticals, from education to e-commerce to solutions development?

Irene Chua: Optimum Innovatus began by building ZERiX, a text messaging platform designed to help businesses connect with their clients more effectively. What started as a digital messaging system soon evolved into a broader vision for technology-driven solutions that improve everyday experiences.

Building on the success and insights gained from Zerix, we expanded into the education technology space with the launch of SpeedyCourse.com. Recognizing the growing demand for convenient and accessible training, SpeedyCourse.com became a natural extension of the company’s mission, leveraging technology to provide users with greater convenience and easier access to learning opportunities.

What specific market gap in the Philippines convinced you to build one or all of these products?

IC: We noticed that finding training programs and seminars was still very inconvenient and scattered across different platforms. That inspired us to create SpeedyCourse.com to make it easier for people to discover and access learning and training opportunities in one place.

Early on, we built ZERiX after seeing how many businesses in the Philippines needed a simple and affordable way to communicate with their customers through text messaging, especially since SMS is still widely used across the country.

We’ve recently transitioned from traditional SMS-based messaging to an internet-based platform called myZERIX. While some clients still prefer SMS, we’ve evolved the system to work over internet messaging to adapt to changing user behavior and preferences. This shift allows us to offer a more scalable, flexible, and feature-rich communication platform while still supporting clients who rely on SMS during the transition period

Your background is in Architecture and Real Estate Management. How does that factor in with all of these?

IC: I finished Architecture but didn’t get the chance to practice it, as life led me instead into technology and entrepreneurship. Recently, I also completed Real Estate Management and passed the board exam, which felt like everything coming full circle.

What excites me now is bringing together my background in design, technology, and real estate into a single direction focused on building better, more connected systems.

For SpeedyCourse.com, that means using technology and automation to bridge the gap between training providers and learners, making access to learning more efficient. For ZERiX, it’s about strengthening communication between businesses and their clients through smarter, more reliable messaging systems. And in real estate, it’s about applying the same principle. Using technology to simplify how premium properties are discovered, accessed, and transacted.

At the core, all three come down to one goal: using design and technology to create convenience, connection and clarity in industries that are often fragmented.

Tech in the Philippines

The Philippine market, especially with our Internet infrastructure, can sometimes be slow to adopt deeply structured automation or digital workflows. What were the challenges in introducing these platforms to local businesses?

IC: You’re right. That has definitely been one of the biggest challenges. Even if you build a powerful and well-designed platform, adoption can still be difficult because user experience is heavily affected by intermittent internet connectivity and varying levels of digital readiness.

What I realized early on is that technology alone is not enough. A platform may have advanced features and automation, but if users experience delays, unstable access, or complexity, they may not immediately appreciate its full value. In many cases, businesses are still transitioning from traditional manual processes, so there’s also a learning curve and a need to build trust in digital systems.

That’s why our approach has always been focused on simplicity, accessibility and convenience. We continuously adapt the platforms to work within local market realities, making them easier to use, lighter, more mobile-friendly and practical for everyday business operations. Innovation is not just about building advanced technology. It’s about building technology that people can realistically and comfortably use.

What type of businesses are quick to adopt these?

IC: SpeedyCourse.com helps training providers, seminars, tradeshow/conference organizers, and educational institutions modernize and automate their registration/enrollment/payment process from course/seminar/event promotion to registration and participant management.

At the same time, the platform makes it easy for learners to find the right training opportunities anytime and anywhere, creating a more convenient and accessible learning experience for everyone.

myZERiX’s market consists of businesses that want more efficient and well-managed communication systems. The platform is designed to be flexible and can be used across many different industries and business verticals.

Startup Mindset

How do you attract local engineering talent while competing against bigger companies?

IC: By sharing a compelling vision, strong values, and a clear sense of purpose. We focus on building meaningful products that solve real problems, so people don’t just join for a job. They join for the impact.

We also ensure the team is deeply connected to what we’re building. We have a strong, collaborative culture where everyone is encouraged to take ownership, innovate, and grow. The entire team is aligned with the mission of improving how businesses, providers, and learners operate through better systems and technology.

In the end, it’s not about competing with bigger companies on resources. It’s about attracting people who believe in the cause and are passionate about what we’re building. We’ve always operated with a startup mindset and the team has been at the center of that journey. As we grow and succeed, we make sure that success is shared by the people who helped build it from the ground up.

Where do you see the biggest untapped opportunity for Optimum Innovatus?

IC: The biggest untapped opportunity for Optimum Innovatus is in fully integrating fragmented workflows, especially in industries like education and SME communications. A lot of businesses here are still operating with disconnected systems: inquiries are manual, enrollments are scattered, and communication is still heavily dependent on basic tools. There’s a major gap between intent and execution.

What excites me is building simple but powerful platforms that unify these processes, making them more automated, accessible, and scalable without overwhelming users. If we can lower the barrier to digital adoption while improving efficiency, we’re not just digitizing industries; we’re reshaping how they operate end-to-end.
